The encyclicals affirm the principles of utilitarianism as it allows to clarify certain issues which are related to rectifying uniform consequences which are seen to be compliant with the principles of utilitarianism. On the other hand, it can also be seen that it rejects principles of utilitarianism in the aspect that it does not provide importance to human welfare and relationships and is merely consequence based, while the encyclicals focus on duty as well.
