A ball of mass (82±1) g is fired into a bob of mass (463±3) g. The dot on the bob rises (4.6±0.2) cm vertically. The ball is then fired horizontally from a table top so that the bottom of the ball starts out (152±2) cm above the level floor. It hits the floor (365±3) cm from the starting point. Has momentum been conserved? WHY/WHY NOT? SHOW ALL WORK!

Please work out 3 clearly and with units. Thanks! 1. A 10-g bullet travels vertically upwards at 1000 m/s, then strikes and passes through a 2.0-kg block initially at rest. The bullet emerges from the block with a speed of 400 m/s because it transfers momentum to the block. (a) How much momentum did the block gain? (b) How fast is the block now moving, and what is its kinetic energy? (c) Using energy considerations only, to what maximum height...

OAL Combine the concepts of conservation of energy and conservation of momentum in inelastic collisions. In figure a, a bullet and a wooden block are shown in two configurations. In the first configuration, the block, labeled m2, hangs vertically from a ceiling. A bullet, labeled m1, approaches the block horizontally from the left. A rightward arrow points from the bullet and is labeled vector v1i. A rightward arrow, shorter than the first, points from the block and is labeled vector...
