1.   Vaccine-preventable diseases: new vaccines were introduced for example rotavirus, herpes zoster vaccines, etc. that helped in preventing many deaths.
2.   prevention and control of infectious diseases: helped significantly in controlling many infectious diseases.
3.   tobacco control by reducing tobacco use
4.   maternal and infant health helped in the reduction of Neural tube defects in newborns and screening helped to reduce heritable disorders.
5.   prevention of cardiovascular disease, heart diseases and stroke that were the leading cause of deaths.
6.   occupational safety: helped in improving working conditions for the worker and other workplace-related injuries.
7.   cancer prevention: this helped in reducing death rates particularly due to colorectal cancer, breast and cervical cancer in women.
8.   childhood lead poisoning prevention: Upto 2000 childhood lead poisoning was a major concern and lead poisoning prevention laws were implemented.
