Electoral realignment is basically the changes that are sometimes needed in case of the electoral boundaries for ensuring that each division gets approximately the equal number of voters in it as this affects the outcome of an election. For example, according to Reichley the only true realigning elections has occurred in 1800, 1860, and 1932.
