The component of the external magnetic field along the central axis of a 43 turn circular coil of radius 34.0 cm decreases from 2.90 T to 0.450 T in 3.60 s. If the resistance of the coil is ?=1.50 Ω, what is the magnitude of the induced current in the coil?

What is the direction of the current if the axial component of the field points away from the viewer?

Answer #1

Current induced = voltage induced/Resistance

= rate of change of magnetic flux /R

= pi*R^2*N*(B2-B1)/[t*R]

= pi*0.34^2*43*(2.9-0.45)/[3.6*1.5]

= 7.085 A

By Lenz law, the current flows to resist the change

So, current is clockwise
