Who is Duesberg and what are his beliefs? Why are his ideas problematic?
Peter H. Duesberg is a German American molecular biologist from Berkley and is known for his early research into genetic aspects of cancer. He published a research paper in 1987 stating that HIv is not the cause of AIDS.
According to him:
1. Even haemophiliacs without HIV suffer from immune deficiencies, therefore, some factor other than HIV is responsible for AIDS among them.
2. The second belief is that the AIDS hasn't passed the Koch test, which clearly justifies that the disease is caused by a specific microbe.
3. An AIDS crisis that was reported to loom in Thailand as of 1990 and that was predicted to explode now has generated only 123 AIDS patients from 1984 until June 1991. This statement was argued by Duesberg as his third conviction in order to justify that HIV is not the reason for AIDS.
Deusberg ideas are problematic as his conviction developed by focusing to a selective point only, ignoring the connection already there between HIV and AIDS and partial reading of papers and selectively focusing.
