Excel plays a very important role in our day to day life. It helps to organize things easily. It does not demand programming skills. It helps to solve things quickly even for naive users.

Home:
With excel logical and financial functions, it helps to plan the budget accordingly for each month. It helps to determine which areas cost incurred high and low. For instance, say that for House expenses you allocated $1000 but it increased to $1200. You wanted to find out which area contributed more. You can make use of IF function so that it tells where contribution turned out more and less.

work:
You can use excel in the workplace. It helps to sort the list of employees who took more number of holidays than recommended using COUNTIF. It helps to calculate SUM, AVERAGE, a sum of salary for specific department etc. With extensive graphical features, different types of charts can be incorporated. With tables, you can sort data, filter it, apply conditions etc.

School
It helps to track attendance by using the COUNTIF function. With RANK formula, you can rank the students based on their scores obtained. With NESTED IF you can provide different grades like A+, A, B+ and so on.
