3' GGGTCGGATCGGAAACGTTCTCCGGTATAGCTG 5'

a. Indicate which strand represents the coding strand.

b. Write the mRNA sequence that results from transcribing the coding strand of the DNA. Include labels for the 5’ and 3’ ends.

Answer #1

a - Coding sequence has ATG, initiator codon, and a stop codon.

The bottom strand has ATG which can act as initiator codon.

So bottom strand is coding strand as it has both ATG and TAG and the upper strand is template strand.

B- 5' GUC GAU AUG GCC UCU UGC AAA GGC UAG GCU GGG 3'

C- N-terminus - MET ALA SER CYS LYS GLY  C-terminus.
