Nucleotides are phosphate esters of nucleosides. It contains of 3 components-

a. Nitrogenous base

b. pentose sugar

c. phosphate group

Nitrogenous base- There are two types of bases present in both DNA , RNA i.e purine and pyrimidine.

pentose sugar- There are two sugar i.e. ribose and deoxyribose sugar.

Function of nucleic acid-
