  • There are specific protein which are responsible for the g2 m checkpoint such as p53 and p21.
  • These proteins ensure that the damaged dna is not passed through mitosis.
  • Proteins such as Rad3 and rad18 are responsible for the maintainance of the G2 checkpoint.
  • So when normally the damaged dna passes through the checkpoint apoptosis occur.
  • If some of the protein responsible for the checkpoint maintainance are mutated the damaged dna will pass through the checkpoint and cancer will occur.
