I am an adult assistant. My student regularly cuts classes. I informed mom, and the IEP Team as well as my team leaders. Now, he is failing most of his classes as he is always on his cell phone not doing work, or he is cutting the class. My team leader wants me to ask teachers for extra work which they are not willing to give as he did not try the entire quarter. Now, how do I nicely state that I have informed everyone of the cutting classes, and not doing work. I understand teachers are not at the last minute working with a student that did not try? It's not fair to the students that work hard? Please help?
Solution:
You can very politely explain the entire story to the concerned person. When a student is not interested in studies and is constantly cutting classes, it is your job to first understand the reasons as to why he is doing it. A nice discussion with that student to understand his perspective towards classes and trying to understand what he actually wants from the school will solve the majority of your problems. Once you understand the problem of the student then you can take this forward to the competent authority and present the case to him with the reasons behind such behavior from the student and then present your entire case. Just presenting your case without any concrete reason behind it will not be a better way and hence you should try to do your research and find out the underlying research behind it. You can proceed this way to your problem.
