As a manager, you should watch out for signs of any of the Five Dysfunctions of a Team. What are they? and how can you attempt to remedy them if you see signs present on your staff?

Team dysfunction can be attributed to inter-team bonding and hence operational task can also be affected. The following five dysfunctions we can observe in the team are

  • Absence of trust
  • Fear of conflict
  • Lack of accountability and responsibility
  • No mutual cooperation and understanding
  • Grouping

I as a manager would try to take a team meeting (it could be both, formal or informal) in order to identify the reason behind these dysfunctionalities and try to advise them about the importance of

Team bonding

Best practises in the team

Cooperation

Mutual trust etc and do some exercises and activity supported by a workshop to eliminate the dysfunctions
