False since sokoloff and Engerman takes the example of the carribbean, south america in one side and USA and Canada on the other side and mentions that the land was in control of handful of elite in the former's case and rest were brough as slaves whereas in latter case the small pocket if land was available to all leading to better utilization of the labor for USA and Canada and lower inequality
