The mutualism can be defined as ecological interaction in which the both species are equally benefited.
Yes the statement is true because the the small fragments of the forest have less species and the area is is limited too thus the animals or the organisms in these fragments have limited resources thus they seek the other organisms for the survival thus common mutualism. The two species are equally benefited. It is mainly due to restricted area wgerewh in the larger fragments the species and the resources will be more thus it's easy for the organisms to find their own food other than depending on others, but in cases of the small fragments the species have limited area thus they will be dependent on the other organisms which will be as beneficial for both.
