what topics do anthropologists bring up when they talk about race? why?
when anthropologist discusses racism the most important topic they discuss is about biological racism. the evolutionary beliefs on race.
That race does not determine behavior
It is not a determination of language and culture.
Racial classification is totally inadequate to describe the
biological difference
The most important contribution of the modern evolutionary
synthesis or “neo Darwinism” is the clear concept of biological
race.
In include species fact that all humans can interbreed and produce
viable offsprings. This is genetic sharing b/r different groups and
hence they consider all humankind as single species.
This classification produced different grouping, where most
features like skin color changes gradually and other features
developed independently of each other.
For e.g skin color- due to natural selection and vitamin
D.different groups have different skin color due to the evolution
of human depigmentation.
When it comes to race, a human does vary biologically, it includes
potential health effects and even abilities like intelligence.many
defined race as “culturally constructed mark that describes real
variation.” So the race is subcategorization at the subspecies
level.
But most people in united states use skin color to classify race.
If it was related to skin color then the definition of race would
have been changed years ago, because in this sense children from
the same parents will be classified as a different race.
