1. What are the current problems with using nuclear sources (i.e. uranium) as a potential transition fuel from conventional fossil fuels in power generation?

Solar power, wind power , geothermal power, hybrid and electric car aggresive energy efficiency are climate solution that are safer , cheaper, faster, more secure, more powerful and less wasteful than nuclear power.Currently there are 444 nuclear plants in30 countries world wide with another 63 plants under construction .

CURRENT PROBLEMS OF NUCLEAR SOUCES

1)NUCLEAR WASTE : The waste generated by nucear reactors remain radio active for 10 to 100 to 1000. Currently there areno storage solution for radio active waste , and most are stored in temporary above ground faclities. But these storage space are becoming run out condition .

2)NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION

As nuclear fuel and technology become globally available the risk of these falling into a wrong hands is increasingly present . To avoid weapon proliferation ,it is important that countries with high level of corruptionand instability should be discouraged.

3)NATIONAL SECURITY  : Nuclear power plant are a potential targe t for terriorist operation . A attack will cause major explosion , putting population centres at risk as well as ejecting dangerous radioactive material into the atmosphere. Uranium reserch faclities, uranium enrichment plant are also potentially at risk for attack that could cause widespread contamination with radio active material

4)ACCIDENT: Increased the risk posed by terrorist attack ,human error and natural disaster can lead to dangerous and costly accidents .The 1980 Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine lead to the death of 30employees in the initial explosion and has the various negative health effect on thousands across russia  and eastern europe .A massive tsunami bypassed the safety mechanism of several power plant in 2001, causing three nuclear meltdown at a power plant in japan resulting the realeasing of radio active material.

5)NOT ENOUGH SITE :Nuclear plants need to be locate near a souce of water for cooling and there are n't enough location in the world that are safe from drought ,flood ,hurricance ,earth quake and other potential disaster that could trigger a nuclear accident .

6)COST : Many plants are being shut down or in danger of being shut down for economic reason .Initial cost , capital cost ,fuel and maintainanence cost are much higher for nuclear plants .
