It is problematic that minorities are underrepresented in the media as it would hinder the quality of equality and fraternity which the state abides by . Moreover, based upon studies, consumers are more inclined to bring their notice into causes represented by the majority and are more supportive of their actions which influences the media to shed light on majority groups-be it racially or culturally. Overrepresentation of black individuals as perpetuators of crime would cause them to be stereotyped and prejudicedby a large section of society and thus can bring up issue that may contribute to their hostility. Hence it is seen as inappropriate and problematic due to these reasons.
