base analogs are chemical structure which mimic the natural nucleotide of nucleic acid and incorporate in nucleic acid and replace original nucleotide . this replacement result in mutation in DNA and the rate of mutation is higher in base analogs.

example

2-aminopurine is adenine analog and can bind with T or C

5-Fluorouracil is analog of thymine and inhibitor of thymidylate synthetase, etc
