a. 20% of this DNA molecule consist of adenine which means that equal percent of thymine is present as well forming 40%DNA as Adenine - Thymine base pair. (40 base pairs). While rest of the 60%DNA consist of guanine - cytosine.

X *40 + x *60 =11700

100 x =11700

X =117

Total number of nucleotides =117

b. One amino acid is coded by 3 nucleotides .

So, X amino acids will be coded by 117 nucleotides

Then, X * 3 = 117

X= 39

Total number of amino acids =39
