Question

What is the speed of light in vacuum? Infinity, it propagates instantaneously in vacuum About 300000...

  1. What is the speed of light in vacuum?

    • Infinity, it propagates instantaneously in vacuum
    • About 300000 km/s
    • About 300000 mph
    • It depends on the wavelength of light
  2. What can slow the speed of light?

    • An electromagnetic field
    • A massive body
    • The medium through which the light is traveling
    • A mirror
  3. What is refraction?

    • It is the process that reflects light on a mirror
    • It is the bending of light due the crossing from one material to another
    • It is the bending of light due to the curvature of spacetime
    • It is the effect of waves on the surface on a material
  4. Which of the following electromagnetics bands has the longest wavelength?

    • X-ray
    • Ultraviolet
    • Gamma-Ray
    • Radio
  5. Which of following statements is true?

    • Longer wavelength electromagnetic radiation (light) has a higher frequency
    • Longer wavelength electromagnetic radiation (light) has a lower frequency
    • Longer wavelength electromagnetic radiation (light) has the same frequency as shorter wavelength
    • All of the above
  6. What are colors?

    • They are a human coded definition of wavelength
    • They are a human coded definition of frequency
    • It is the way the human brain interprets wavelengths
    • All of the above

Answer #1

1). About 300000 kms. Per second

The light travels with this speed in vacuum.

2). The medium through which the light is traveling.

The medium of travel affects the speed of light. denser medium slow down the speed.

3). Bending of light due to crossing from one medium to another.

This happens due to density differences between mediums. That phenomena of bending is known as refraction.

4). Radio Waves

Radio waves have the largest wavelengths on the order of hundreds of meters.

5). Longer wavelength has a lower frequency.

The frequency of wave refers to passing of wavelengths in a second. So if wavelength is larger it will take more time to pass a single wavelength, hence lesser frequency.

6). All of them.

All the colors are human perceptions of various frequency, wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation. As we sense then differently so we have coded their names.
