In germinating seeds energy is served by hydrolysis of starch in endosperm by gibberelic acid. Initially gibberelic acid produced in the embryo of barley seeds will be transported to the endosperm where it enhances the transcription and translation of alpha amylase gene . For the translation process storage proteins in the aleuron layer cells serves as source of amino acid and than amylase enzyme converts the starch into maltose.
