Etiology of UTI: its mainly caused by entering of bacterium E. coli in the urinary system of the human. Sometimes, infection is due to fungus and virus.
Sign and symptoms: persistant urge to urinate, burning sensation while urinating and frequent passing of urine and change of color of urine.
Diagnostic test: most common test is urinalysis that look for evidence of infection in the urine.
Treatment of disease: antibiotics are given if the infection is due to bacteria. But if infection is due to fungus and virus , antifungal and antiviral medications are given.
UTI are more prevelant in women because they have a shorter urethera than man and bacteria have to travel less distance to reach bladder.
E. coli is the chief cause of UTI because E.coli live in gastrointestinal tract and when it reach to urinary system, it causes UTI. Therefore, its transmission is prevented by drinking large amount of water.
