Zika virus is a virus of family flaviviridae ( most of the virus dengue, yellow fever). All these viruses use a cellular proteins called hsp70 that help in attachment of virus either directly or indirectly.
Scientist have hypothesized that Zika virus also use the same cellular protein for functions like attachment to cell surface, it also plays role in replication of virus and it's infection.
So when a blocker was used to inhibit interaction between Zika virus and Hsp 70, the amount of infection was very much reduced. And when Hsp 70 inhibitor was added,Zika virus particles were very reduced. Similar when this protein was overexpress, the level of expression of Zika virus elevated. All these results indicate that Hsp 70 is a integral host molecule for Zika virus infection, so the treatment of virus can also use this molecule.
