It involves all the business activities undertaken in between the product reach to the final consumer. The important focus is on effective and efficient supply chain management as it impacts the cost of the product and its competitive advantage. The more cost effective the supply chain process, the better and cost effective its price to the final buyer. It is primarily most important in the manufacturing type of industry where product is manufactured and each process requires input which ultimately going to effect the final product. All the activities like designing, manufacturing, packaging, transportation and distribution are integral part of SCM. The distribution of product to the end customer is the final stage and distribution plan is an important component.
