Be sure to address some of the objectives of the facility layout
answer-
My two chosen company in past and present are Burgerking and subway respectively. At Burgerking, the facility design or layout is like first customer visit the restaurant and see order counter where employees are standing behind the counter taking order and customer pay on the stop either via cash or card. they have Screen on the top of counter showing menu items with price listing. behind the counter, there is open kitchen where we can see customers making burger and fries and packing them.
On the other hand, the layout of subway is different where there is open area in the middle and there is order counter is seprate from that area. customer first decide the order and pay for that. then cooked buns from kitchen come to open area where emloyees standing behind the open area ask customers to decide what kind of salad, dressing they would like in their sandwich.
The objective of burgerking's facility design to have systematic flow of order and bring the order to customer with a minute or two. so that customer would not have to wait too long in queue.
the objective of subway's facility layout is to offer variety and quality into its food.Subway wants to focus on satisfaction of customer in taste and variety even it takes a little time to fulfill the order but it would worth the wait.
