Answer #1

1. Erythropoietin helps to increase the absorption of oxygen, reduction of fatigue and improve endurance by increasing the production of red blood cells. Erthropoietin is also responsible for increasing the metabolism and healing process of muscles because of the increased production of red blood cells, which carries more oxygen and nutrients to the muscles. All these conditions would result in the increase in performance of the athlete.

2. Basophils are responsible for allergic reactions and also participate in fighting parasitic infections. Basophils produce IgE antibodies that help the body in fighting the infection. Shortage of basophils will result in the inability of the body to fight parasitic infections. Also the body will not be able to mount allergic reaction against an allergen.
