Answer #1

Post-offer tests

Post offer tests are physical and non-physical tests, which are tested on the prospective employee to be fitted most under that specific job requirement. A post-offer test is done after the formal offer letter given to the candidate but 'the post-offer test' condition is explained to the candidate before his or her appearance to the interview. Some times the company keep this condition mandatory for selection. If any candidate does not clear the post-offer test, his or her selection may be canceled.

Does the organization require any post-offer-tests as the interview process?

Under the Americans and Disability Act 1990 (ADA), the employer can conduct the limited post-offer test after giving the conditional offer letter to the candidate only. An employer may make post-offer tests regardless of whether they are related to the job as long as

  1. it requires such tests for all entering employees.
  2. employer keeps the received information confidential and
  3. uses the results according to law.

If so, what tests are used?

There are physical ability, physical agility, medical and non-medical post offer tests. All the post-offer test has to be fair against all the candidates, given the same post offering testing. This is to ensure the fitness of a candidate truly measured as per the requirement.

If not, why did they make that choice?

This might be because

  • that job task does not require any medical or non-medical condition.
  • a particular skill is enough to fulfill the job requirement.
  • employer doe not feel any post-offer test to be conducted.
