In an article I read called What do clear vision and mission statements contribute to the strategic management process? States that by having a clear mission statement, the company and managers can have a set standard of how their businesses and departments can run in order to achieve their long-term business goals (MacDonald, L. 2019).

The first mission statement is from American Senior Communities, which is the company I have worked for, for almost two years. I really admire their mission statement because they want to serve their customers, which is the elderly and their families, compassionately. Compassion is one of the most underrated words in business, in my opinion. Compassion is a quality that I strive to have on a daily basis, and at times I feel like my compassion hinders me in today’s world, but I continue to have this quality despite some of the cold-hearted people in the business world, and in general.

Harvest Land Co-Op is a company I worked for right out of high school. I loved this company. I actually used their vision statement on this, and I really like this one because it not only focuses on valuing its’ customers, but its’ employees, as well. I think many companies focus so much on their customers, that they forget about the people working for them to make the business successful. I know many people who work hard, yet feel so undervalued and unappreciated by their company. This leads to burnout and unsatisfied employees. Without employees, a business cannot be successful.

The third mission statement I chose was from a small business in Greenfield, IN, called Love INC. Love INC. stands for ‘Love in the Name of Christ.’ This business supports local county churches with needs to keep the churches going. They assist in helping churches with managerial needs, sending volunteers to help with events, assisting in planning and hosting church events, etc. I chose this one because they reach out to churches in need to not only continue to function, but to also still be able to lead people to Christ.

All of these have qualities that I would want in my own mission statement. Compassion, appreciation, and love for others. My personal mission statement would be: To empower others by being a positive, caring, compassionate woman that leads by example, even when no one is looking, in everything that I do.

Facts: Fact is all about the mission statement. By having a clear mission statement, the company and managers can have a set standard of how their businesses and departments can run in order to achieve their long-term business goals

Experience: In this case, the person is admiring all the three mission statements of the companies in which she had worked earlier.

- From the American Senior Communities' mission statement, she learned that they want to serve their customers, which is the elderly and their families, compassionately. She strives to have compassion on a daily basis and also want to use it in her own business life.

- From the Harvest Land Co-Op's mission statement, she learned that they not only focus on valuing its’ customers but its’ employees, as well. She thinks that many companies focus so much on their customers, that they forget about the people working for them to make the business successful. She knows many people who work hard, feel so undervalued and unappreciated by their company. This leads to burnout and unsatisfied employees. She is happy to found that there is one company who is appreciating the work of their employees.

- From the Love INC.'s mission statement, she learned that they reach out to churches in need to not only continue to function but to also still be able to lead people to Christ.

Conclusion:

After learning from all the three above mentioned companies' mission statement, she now knows what qualities does she need in her mission statement. These are three qualities she wants to use in her own business: Compassion, appreciation, and love for others
