There are 3 types of waste such as ;
1 .Administrative waste : which means excess administrative overhead .
2 .Operational waste : which means insufficient and unnecessary use of resources
3 .Clinical waste : which is created by production of low value production

inorder to reduce waste first we need to understand the source of problem. There are 2 types of inefficiencies;
1 . Productive inefficiency: it denotes waste in the form of excess cost
2 . Allocative inefficiency: it produce wrong outputs
Steps to improve
- Nursing department leaders need to improve efficiency of their staffs shift change tasks inorder to improve patient safety measures, reduce medication errors, and improve quality care.
-Improve patient and family satisfaction about communication and coordination of patient care
-Encourage right care in right settings so as to reduce losses
-Remove unnecessary equipment’s , supplies and resources
-keep the area clean and in a systematic order
-provide best patient care in shortest time period without waste of resources
-The entire care of patient should be analysed and re-examined
