Manager 1: "The only way we can increase the revenue we received from selling iPhone is by cutting the price."

Manager 2: "That might work for Samsung phone, but it will not work for iPhone. For iPhone, we must increase the price."

Answer #1

If absolute value of Ed is higher (lower) than 1, demand is elastic (inelastic), and an increase (decrease) in price will decrease (increase) revenue. If absolute value of Ed equals 1, demand is unit elastic and a change in price will not change revenue.

Manager 2's reasoning will be correct, if Samsung phone has elastic demand, so a decrease in price will increase revenue from Samsung phones, and if iPhone has inelastic demand, so an increase in price will increase revenue from i.phones
