What was the environment
Four components of nursing theories are person, health,
environment, and nursing. nursing skills are important for critical
thinking, it provides high-quality practice, avoid harm and adverse
effects. critical thinking when we handle the patient like mentally
disabled, physical disabilities are a more challenging one. it
needs confidence, creativity, flexibility, open-mindedness, and a
nurse need to apply standards, logical reasoning and transforming
knowledge. To do their activity it needs cognitive and physical
ability, strength and coordination. when the patient is physically
and emotionally discomfort they need assistance for their daily
activity. use critical thinking skills for providing bath to the
confused patient. it may be one of the difficult parts for
nurses.
proper decision-making power can help in this situation. when we
handle the patient like Alzheimer and dementia patients in the
assisted living facility use your critical thinking skills to
handle the patient carefully. If you planning to give a bath for
confused patients never leave the confused patient alone in the
bathroom, check the water temperature before starting the bath, use
safety bars in the tub and rubber bath mat, shower chair to prevent
them falls. The bathroom should be warm and well ventilated. keep
necessary things ready next to them, never argue while provide
bathing, be respectful and explain the bath procedure step by step
with clear explanation previously before starting the bath, make
the environment comfort and provide privacy. distract the patient's
mind if they are upset or calm. after bath dry their skin gently
and use protective ointment or gel. person involved in this
activity will be nurse, professional assistance with the same
patient sex will be helpful if it too hard to do bathing. Avoid too
many people involved in this activity to promote privacy and
patient dignity.
