1s,2s,2p,3s,3p,4s and 3d are the subshells of an atom.

An s-subshell consists of 1 orbital and each orbital can accommodate a maximum of two electrons only so an s-subshell can have a maximum of two electrons only. ( In the pictorial representation of electron configuration , an electron is represented by an arrow and the two different directions of arrows represent two different spins of electrons , one has +1/2 spin and the other has -1/2 spin. )

A p-subshell consists of three p-orbitals and since each orbital can accommodate a maximum of two electrons so p-subshell consisting of three p orbitals can accommodate a maximum of six electrons.

A d-subshell consists of five d-orbitals which can accommodate a maximum of ten electrons.

The full electron configuration is written by denoting the number of electrons contained in an orbital as a superscript of that orbital and the various orbitals are arranged in an increasing order of energy .

Here , 1s orbital contains 2 electrons , 2s orbital contains 2 electrons, 2p orbitals contain 6 electrons , 3s orbital contains 2 electrons, 3p orbitals contain 6 electrons , 4s orbital contains one electron and the last 3d orbitals contain 5 electrons .

So the full electron configuration will be written as

1s22s22p63s23p64s13d5

An element is identified by its atomic number which is equal to the total number of electrons in the neutral atom of that element. Assuming that the configuration describes a neutral atom , the total number of electrons in the atom are (2+2+6+2+6+1+5 = 24) 24 . Thus the atomic number of the element is 24.

The element with the atomic number 24 is Chromium (Cr) .

So, name of element : Chromium
