In 2017, the human induced warming reached about 1°C above pre-industrial levels and this number seem to be ever increasing.. Warming greater than the global average has already been experienced in many regions of the world and in different seasons. If past emissions are considered alone, then they are unlikely to raise the temperature to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels (but they do pose threat in different areas such as rise in sea level). Considering hypothetically that all emissions are reduced to zero, even then the effect already created will raise the temperature to +0.5°C in the next two to three decades. Thus 1.5°C is unavoidable.1.5°C emission pathways are defined as those that provide a one in two or two in three chance of warming either remaining below 1.5°C or returning to 1.5°C by 2100 years after following an overshoot.
