Answer #1

ANSWER.

1) Calculation of volume(ml) of drug required.

         Formula

           Volume(ml) = Desired dose(D) / Dose in hand (H) * Quantity(Q)

     Here

         Desired dose(D) = 165 mcg.

       Dose in hand(H) =0.6 mg

Convert mg to mcg for calculation

               1 mg = 1000 mcg.

     So

          Dose in hand(H) = 0.6 * 1000

                                      = 600 mcg.

                 Quantity(Q) = 5 ml.

   As per above formula

         Volume(ml) of drug required = D/H * Q

                                                       = 165 / 600 * 5

                                                       = 0.28 * 5

                                                       = 1.4 ml.

2) Calculation of volume(ml) of drug required.

        Formula

            Volume(ml) = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

     Here

           Desired dose(D) = 50 mEq.

           Dose in hand (H) = 90 mEq.

                 Quantity(Q) = 4 ml

      As per above formula

           Volume(ml) of drug required = D/H * Q

                                                         = 50/90 * 4

                                                         = 0.56 * 4

                                                         = 2.3 ml.
