Answer #1

Butanol :-

shorter chain molecules of methanol, ethanol, propanol, and tert-butanol are fully miscible with water, while n-butanol is only moderately soluble because of the diminishing polarity in the longer hydrocarbon group.

Hexanol :- insoluble in water

2-propanol :- soluble in water

2-methyl-cyclohexanol :- insoluble in water

2-methyl,2-propanol :- soluble in water

Phenol :- phenol is soluble in water to some extinct

Unknown :- insoluble

Q 1 -

Shorter chain molecules are easily soluble in water like methanol ethanol and propanol

Q 2-

As the length of the carbon chain increases, the polar OH group becomes an ever smaller part of the molecule, and the molecule becomes more like a hydrocarbon. The solubility of the alcohol decreases correspondingly

It follows the phenomenon of like dissolve like as polarity decrease it becomes insoluble in polar solvents and soluble in non polar solvents
