Depression is the condition that produces severe sadness, upset mood and disinterested attitude. Depression can be treated with variety of ways with use of pharmacological as well as non-pharmacological therapies.

African american groups are seen to be more socially disadvantaged and have high rates and severity of depression yet some pharmacological recommendations for this group are as follows-

Use of Citalopram with dose escalation (20-60 mg/day)

Use of Lexapro

Use of Prozac in mild dose
