Be specific and use (qualitatively) a real world example from environmental science to illustrate your answer.

There are various different types of distributions for different variables

which explain the changes in them and helps in prediction their future movements approximately

• For example: if we deal with waiting time or queuing model , the average arrival rate follows a poisson distribution. and it very well explains the flow of customers to the service point
• then the data related to height of male adults, it follows normal disribution, that explains why there are very few people with extremely short height or very few people who are extremely taller than the rest of them. it also explains why majority of them have the average height
• if we talk about the data related to some variable like "educated: yes or no" this would always follow a Binomial distribution. The probability of binomial distribution helps explain in a population the number of people who are education
• Like this different distributions work on different types of data and help in precise estimation of those variables for future decision making
