Describe how the nursing profession is viewed by the general public. Discuss factors that influence the public’s perception of nursing.Describe ways to educate the general public on professional nurse’s role and scope of nursing within a changing healthcare system.

Nursing profession is a Nobel profession in the books only . For the general public it is a profession in which nurses are assigned to give bath to the patient ,clean the patient ,change diapers of the patient etc more over its for them like an AAYA.

They consider nurses as aaya and does not give any respect to them . According to them this profession is done by those who are very poor in studies and who belong culturally backward.

The cause for their perception is the way nurses are presented in the society . The media also show nurses doing some basic care like bed bath ,giving medicines etc and the salary given by the hospital to the nurses is also very less equal to an aaya which again gives the same impression . So it has been printed in their mind that way . They don't know about the different emergency task which are done by nurses like intubation of patient ,giving CPR , taking deliveries etc .

Since the evolution of nursing profession , nurse have struggled hard to emerge in every field other than providing basic care and now new higher professional courses for nurses has also been evolved and many associations at state ,national and international level has developed but the impression is same as earlier for the public

People don't even send their child for this profession because it is considered as done by backward class and illiterate ones. It's a bad mark for their prestige.

The government should take a strong step to change the perception of the public . Government actions will be considered by the public and it should include education of general public with the help of pamphlets ,media , presentation related to nursing profession ,the future of nursing profession it's achievements till now , showing the importance of nurses in the healthcare sector.

Nurses are the vital part of the healthcare sector , without them the care provided is incomplete and the other healthcare providers won't be able to manage the ward without nurses. They works dynamically as ,a leader ,care provider , teacher ,manager ,researcher ,advocate etc . It's a noble profession and needs to be respected in the society as they care their patients as one of their family members and provide all vital care without thinking about their health even by doing continuous night duties , double duties at very low wages .
