Professional nursing organization are organization which caters or represents the nursing standards, advocates for the nursing needs and requirements, forms a support system for the nurses involved in the group, promotes professional growth among nurses, establishes code of ethics to be followed in nursing profession. Such organized are for the nurses, by the nurses and from the nurses to promote their all round development in professional nursing career.

As a part of the professional nursing organization, following steps will be taken to increase my involvement:

1. Create ripples in the ocean of knowledge: in nursing profession, additional knowledge can be added in the form of networking with nurses world wide, presentation and workshops and seminars arranged in various parts of the world. Addition of such knowledge will empower the nurses in performance of their activities as well give then confidence to work efficiently with the gained knowledge and skills.

2. Provision to meet experts in learning: such organization are led by various nursing experts, highly experienced mentors and nursing leaders. Through professional nursing organization, we can help the novice and amateurs meet the experts and hence enhance their learning.

3. Making an impact on health policy and reforms: whenever a health policy is about to reformed, being a part of such organization does empower the professional organization to give in their inputs. Such collaboration proves the need and importance of our profession , the nursing concerns about a particular reform from nurses and patient point of view, upholds the standards of nursing profession. It makes the state and country aware about the nursing profession and it's impact on society.

4. Formulate a platform for leadership- by active participation in such professional organization, leadership skills of nurses are nurtured. Such leadership skills can be harnessed for the growth and development of nursing as a profession as a whole.

5. Integrate nurses world wide- nursing is a career which is spread across the world. Various practices around the globe can be utilised for the care of patients. Such practices are being transfered only through integrating with each other. Nurses and their new career opportunities can also be exhibited to the fellow nurse through such integration which will connect the nurses around the world as a Family.

6. Aiding nursing programs and research activities: various professional organization provides scholarship for eligible nurses and nursing students to persue their nursing training and higher education. Nursing researchers can also be promoted to aiding in the funds required for their research study.

Professional advocacy can promoted in the following ways:

1. Code of Ethics for nurses: Code of Ethics 2001 lays down 9 provision for nurses to prove their ethical standards in nursing profession. Timely reforms in such code of ethics should made and any nurses held victim of any legal issues should be defended on the basis of these ethical standards.

2. Improving political advocacy: political advocacy implies to issues pertaining the authority and extend of authorization for the patient, cost of nursing care while maintaining the quality, nursing role in access to provide nursing care, scope of nurses and their responsibility, improving the workforces and work environment for effective quality nursing care.

3. Communicating to nurses- professional advocacy does support improving communication among nurses which is promoted through news letter, bulletins and nursing magazines. Topics of communication includes formal and informal informations and also dissemination of resarche findings and it's implication in nursing profession. A nurse who is communicated stays informed timely which can aid positively in her nursing career.
