NURSING DEFINITION : Nursing is defined as a noble profession which focus on providing health care services to patients, families, communities to maintain, attain good health and quality of life to them.

ROLES AND FUNCTIONS OF A PROFESSIONAL NURSE : The roles and functions of a professional nurse is as follows :

* Communicator

* Leader

* Advocate for clients

* Counselor

* Manager

* Case manager

* Researcher

Professional nurses should be capable in maintaining of all the mentioned roles which is the greatest asset of her profession. Each and every roles displays their responsibility as a person towards the patient in curing of the diseases and to promote healthy life style those who are in suffering. One area where the nurse has to develop is as a educator. Providing of health educations is important to prevent disease conditions to a far extent. While discharging the patient the nurses has to focus on the health education regarding diet, personal hygiene, environmental sanitation, wound care, hand washing practices,along with treatment regimen. This will definitely reduces the risk of secondary infections and prevents readmission of patient to the hospitals.
