Feminism is the belief in the grounds of social,political and economic equalities of the race.

Marxist theory is a feminism focused theory which investigates and explains about the ways in which women are oppressed through the system of capitalism and private property.

Theoritical Background/Views

1848-Influential work by Karl Marx and Friedrich Angels in the communist manifasto and A Contribution to Critique of Political Economy laid some foundation for the early disclosure.

The theory and the method study developed by Marx is termed as Historical Materialism.It places heavy emphasis on the role of economy and technical factors to determine base structure of the society.

According to Engels in1884 the shift from feudalism to private ownership of land has had a huge effect on the status of women

Engels also argues that a womens subordination is not a result of her biological disposition but of her social relations.Engels analyses the widesoread social phenomenon associated with female sexual mortality,fixation to virginity,incrimination and violent punishment of women to commit adultery.

In the capitalist system two types of labor exists they are

• Productive
• Reproductive

Productive labor results in the goods and services that have monetary value

Reproductive labor is associated with private sphere and involves anything that people have to do for themselves not for the purpose of wage eg: cleaning, cooking etc.

Gender difference in health based on Marxist are

• Women have low mortality rate than men, longer life expectancy,greater mortality and are overreprestated in health statistics
• Some health problems are more associated with one gender than other
• Expectation of how men and women behave are based on social constricts and will impact their health
• Sociological factors are as important as biological for gender related ineaualities.
