JIT and TQM are integral parts of Supply Chain Management.

JIT is collaboration based approach of all suppliers and entire value chain, so if one part of chain stops the entire chain gets disrupted. Moreover, JIT is continous form of improvement and its main goal is to eliminate inventories and manufacture goods as per demand Unlike bulk manufacturing where quality is compromised against quantity.

Hence JIT also incorporates quality production which is also part if TQM. This often confused managers and generally JIT and TQM was seen as tradeoff.

Whenever goods were ordered in bulk at almost no time, firms implemented JIT albeit focussed on timely delivery and hence trading iff quality aspects and thus TQM.
