Second Vatican Council-
It is also called Vatican II. It is the 21st ecumenical council of the Roman Catholic Church that was announced by Pope John XXIII on January 25, 1959. It was a medium of spiritual renewal for the church and it was an occasion for Christians who got separated from Rome to join in a search for a unity of Christian.
An agenda was prepared by the Proprietor commissions which was appointed by the Pope and draft was produced of decrees on different topics. The council fathers were advised by the Pope in opening the council on October 11, 1962, to try to meet the pastoral needs of the church. All Catholic bishops and certain other church dignitaries summoned to the council were invited to the council sessions, but a number of observers from the major Christian churches and communities were without the right to vote and were separated from Rome and auditors i.e. a number of Catholics.
