Safety Precautions to avoid resident injuries:

According to the Center for Disease Control and prevention according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention they concluded that falls are the number one cause of injuries in seniors resulting in hip fractures,cuts,head and brain injuries that can be fatal. When there is no serious injury,a fall can be so frightening seniors should avoid certain activities because they are afraid for falling again.

The following precaution to prevent resident injuries:

1.Clean up clutter:The best method for preventing falls to keep your home neat and tidy and remove all the clutters such as stacks of old newspapers and magazines especially from the staircases,kitchen and hallways.

2.Repair tripping hazards: Some times Home fixtures can contribute to fall results back pain hip fracture and other injuries.Examine every room and hallway ,looking for items such as slippery throw rugs,wood floorboards,loos carpet then repair or remove those items to prevent from falling.

Fire safety is defined as the set of practices intended to reduce the destruction caused by fire.

The following should be included for fire safety:

  • Keep your work place neat and tidy and should have a good standard of housekeeping.
  • Regularly remove combustible waste.
  • Keep ignition source away from combustible material such as liquids and gases that are inflammable.

Emergency planning:

  • An emergency plan should be clearly explained to the employees that what to do in the event of a fire and alarm being raised.For example,the location of fire alarm call points,extinguishers and exist and details of nominated person along with their of responsibility.
  • It is very important to train employees who are working in fire department.You should carry out a fire drill a twice a year that will help to ensure the plan work and people should follow.
