Please provide your thoughts regarding global supply base utilization and how to alter to more of a domestic-based supply source in the 21st century.

Depicts the fact we all know that this is the era of globalization where every aspect of our life get effected by it. When it comes to SCM, the overall impact on the logistic area is very huge. As businesses were going more international, the strategic planning will change country to country. The school book definition of supply change management is it is the process of flow of goods from supplier to manufacture and distribution and in the end to end-user. The whole process of flow of good is all about logistics.

When it comes to global supply base utilization the process of flow of goods have no difference in terms of working. The only change which occur is on the bases of quality and cost. Countries utilized the global supply base in growing there businesses and increasing their GDP.In 21st century, the trades are in billions between the countries hence SCM get a remake when we talk about the quality. Now people have more specific requirements while handling any consignment. Now day’s people want to reduce inventory cost, so they prefer just in time delivery when the demand is there. But that can only be happened when we focus more on domestic based supply.

When countries have lots to trade from other countries then the dependency got increased. We can take an example of US-china trade war. There are lots of driver for this war, when countries focus on expending then it suddenly want to focus more on domestic these kind of wars happened. Sanction were put on each other and the advantage of global supply become a boom for the people of that country.

Now when every country need to developed and strong their economy then we need to not only focus on global supply base but also on the domestic base supply. We now can saw the trends , every country shift their focus on more domestic supply and manufacturing. Like in India “make in India”, USA “make America great again” etc. we can conclude by these all that now as countries just focusing on self-interest instead of world. For any country or for world economy global supply of goods and trade is as much as important as domestic trades are important.
