Answer #1

When it comes to characterising people based on the preoccupied internal working model, the people can be divided into four distinct categories which are Secure, Fearful, Preoccupied and Dismissing.

  1. The views of people about self and others could be either positive or negative. When both the views about the self and the others are positive then the person is characterised as 'Secure' type. However if both the parameters are negative then the person is characterised as 'Fearful' type. When the former is positive while the latter is negative then the person is 'Dismissing' type and when the former is negative while the latter is positive then the person is of 'Preoccupied' type.
  2. The dimension of attachment and avoidance could be either high or low. When both the parameters are high then the person is characterised as 'Fearful' type. However if both the parameters are low then the person is characterised as 'Secure' type. When the former is high while the latter is low, the person is characterised as 'Preoccupied' type and when the former is low while the latter is high, the person is characterised as 'Dismissing' type.
