Here we will see how Erin's emotional intelligence grown and developed by exploring the competencies of emotional intelligence by Goleman one by one -

  • Self awareness is the ability of self to understand and focus own emotional state in a given situation. Erin in the movie is very well aware that she has lost the case but not the hope. Instead of getting broken she controls her emotions and gets ready for the job which she was sure that she would get it. She gets a job with the lawyer who handeled her case before. Also when she finds some little known case of gas company she realizes that there is some serious issue with the case and start digging the information.
  • Self regulation allows you to regulate your emotions you wish to experience at a given point of situation. Erin's character in movie when starts digging information about the chromium contamination instead of getting angry immediately she starts to collect more and more information calmly which benefitted her once she was thrown out of job. She got the job back and also gets morenautjprity of investigation.
  • Self motivation allows you yo use your emotions to bring positive changes yo pursue your life objectives. Erin in the movie motivates herself to do the job of investigation of the gas company's activities of providing contaminated water and sue them over it. She finds various reluctance, resistance during journey from investigation to settlement of $333 mollion.
  • Empathy allows you to feel the emotions of others, to feel the life others are living. Erin in the movie feels the pain of Donna Jensen living in Hinkley, California and her husband had a seviour hodgekin's lymphoma and then she motivated herself to fight for the cause.
  • Nurturing relationship allows you to sincerely demonstrate an emotional intrest and cknpassion for others. In movie Erin after realizing the emotional pain of Donna, makes a good bonding with the residents of Hinkley and persuades 634 plantiff to fight against PG&E and gets success. All plantiff cooperate with Erin because of the trust she developed with the victims.
