What are the service advantages to customers when a business sets its goals and strategies based on findings from a comprehensive SWOT analysis? In your opinion, can students use the SWOT analysis successfully as applied to school and work decisions (i.e., selecting a particular job or a particular course of study)? Explain.
When a business identifies its
goals, sets strategies and deliver the services, then it creates
different service advantages to the customers. The first advantage
is that, customers get focused and best services as they are
identified as target customers and opportunities by the firms who
have already done the SWOT analysis. The second advantage is that
customers get value for the money they pay, because firms have
relied on their strength and committed only what can be delivered
best by them. The third advantage is that customers get a complete
value driven package where the service offered are best in quality
at a competitive price, as firms do it due to threats lingering
from the business environment.
Students can use the SWOT decision in their own decision related to
the selection of schools or jobs. For example, a student can
conduct the SWOT analysis and identify the strengths as good
subject knowledge, past work experience, ownership of technical
skills and disciplined behavior. Though, weaknesses are the poor
financial background and lack of good hobby. The threats are the
rising fee of the schools or jobs at distant locations and
opportunities are new scholarship programs and new universities and
schools coming up with special scheme for meritorious students with
poor financial background. Further, new companies setting up their
branches in student’s domain and in nearby areas, are the
opportunities. On the basis of this SWOT analysis, students can
apply in those schools that offer opportunities for the meritorious
students and offer scholarship as well. It will help him to pursue
the right schooling decisions. Besides, companies coming up in his
own subject domain, creates ideal job opportunities that can be
pursued by the students and his strengths in subject knowledge,
technical skills and disciplined behavior will help him. Over a
period of time, the student will slowly eliminate his weaknesses.
So, SWOT analysis, helps students to strategically approach his
different decisions and get successful.
