What determines if a change in the genetic make-up (DNA mutation) is "good", "bad" or "has no effcet"?
DNA codes for RNA which ultimately codes for proteins which performs enormous functions in our body. Proteins are the molecule which perform function and some change in the expression levels of these protein through mutation is exhibited by loss of any function or structure. Thus If the mutation is good will result in betterment of the either the expression levels or the quality. Bad mutations results in loss of the function of the protein or impairing the formation of the protein. When the mutation is silent or neutral it has no effect, then despite the presence of the mutation protein is formed and functions normally.

Outcomes of genetic mutation (“Learn Genetics” Website Info) How does a mutation in DNA lead to a change in a visible characteristic?
What is genetic mutation? How should they be corrected during DNA replication?
Which statement is correct about DNA mutation and DNA repair? A. DNA mutation always leads to an impaired protein function A Question Progress A B. All organisms have elaborate mechanisms to repair DNA damage C. DNA mutation is a temporary change in DNA sequence D. Environmental mutagens are safe and won't cause cancer E. Homologous recombination is a type of genetic recombination in which nucleotide sequences are exchanged between two totally different molecules of DNA Reset Selection
what types of mutation would change the reading fram of DNA resulting in a frameshift mutation?
Question 12 Which mutation has a change in the DNA sequence but no change in the amino acid sequence? Question 4 Match the nucleotide pictures to their names.
Genetic Code The genetic code is what allows the string of nucleotides in our DNA to code for the sequence of amino acids that make up proteins. Briefly explain what this genetic code is in general and how it works. What is meant by the universality of the genetic code? Explain briefly what the advantages and disadvantages of this type of genetic code are to humans. ANSWER MUST BE ORIGINAL AND NO PLAGIARISM
Draw an illustration that shows how a mutation, change in DNA sequence, results in a change in either the expression of a protein OR a change in a protein's binding to a partner. Describe the flow of events or information illustrated in your drawing AND state how the mutation might result in a change in phenotype (a trait).
Genetic Code: The dictionary of the language of life Use the Genetic Code as a "dictionary" to solve the exercises on next page 5. If a mutation happens in the DNA that changes the T at base 14 to a G: a) What would be mutated sequence of nucleotides in the corresponding codon in the mRNA and the anticodon in the tRNA? Is there any change in the corresponding amino acid in the protein? b) What is the name of this type of...
D Question 4 A silent mutation has no change in RNA sequence O no change to DNA, RNA, or protein O no change in protein sequence O no change in DNA sequence Question 5 Which mutation changes one amino acid for another? nonsense all of these are correct missense silent
What do you think of genetic engineering? Are GMO's good or bad? With genetically engineering humans, should we be tampering with the human genome? Do you think humans can stick to a limit (only curing diseases) or do you think humans would begin engineering people? Describe your thoughts on genetic engineering and molecular Biology. Your post must be at least 100 words and reply to at least two other peers.
