Answer #1

Defaunation is the decrease in abundance and disappearance of species from the ecosystem. Defaunation causes a great loss to the biodiversity because decreased populations lead to inbreeding, which intern causes loos of gene diversity. Inbreeding also increase the occurrence of genetic defects and genetic diseases, decreased survival rate and decreased chances of reproduction.

Since most of the plant species are depend on animals for deed dispersal, plant diversity also will be lost due to defaunation. Most of the animal species are good scavengers, loss of these species results in accumulation of these toxic products.
